She had just been told she had stage 3 breast cancer.
Her hair was already falling out from chemo.
And she had one wish: she wanted her idol to be the one holding the clippers.
A Fan With One Wish
Her name is Cash Jacobs. She is a musician, and according to her TikTok bio, she is from New York.
She once drove 14 hours just to see Cyrus perform in Milwaukee, People reported.
Then came the diagnosis that turned her life upside down.
“Finding out I had breast cancer, getting a port put in my chest and starting chemo was hard enough as it is,” she later wrote on TikTok.
“Never mind the side effects I’d soon be facing from the chemo,” she added.
One of those side effects was losing her hair.
So on Thursday, Oct. 15, she posted a video with a bold request.
She wanted Miley Cyrus to shave her head.
She asked everyone watching to tag the singer, hoping the message would somehow reach her.
Racing Against Her Own Hair

Cyrus was about to play two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
Cash traveled to L.A. for the first show, on Friday, Oct. 16.
Before the concert, she filmed an update. She admitted she was worried.
She was “nervous” she “wouldn’t have any hair left for Miley to shave because it’s falling out so rapidly,” she said, according to People.
“At this point she’ll have about three strands to shave. That’s okay, it’s better than nothing,” she joked.
She had a plan in case Cyrus noticed her in the crowd.
“I am going to wear a wig tonight because I’m a little self-conscious about my balding head,” she said.
“But if she calls out my name or anything of the sort, I’m going to rip my wig right off and wave it in the air so that she can locate me.”
“Regardless of what happens tonight, this has been the most spontaneous and memorable trip ever,” she said.
The Night Nothing Happened
The show was amazing. But she did not get to meet Cyrus that night.
There was one small sign of hope, though.
Cyrus’s team had sent her a “promising email,” asking for her seat number and contact information, People reported.
After the show, she posted another video.
“Miley if you see this, would still like to meet you,” she said. “10,000 out of 10 show. It was so good and I cried like a baby.”
“I’m going to shave my head when I get home,” she said. “I’d rather be around loved ones, family and do that.”
She had no idea what was coming next.
Then Miley Flew Her Back

Then came the surprise. Cyrus flew Cash back to Los Angeles for her second show at the Hollywood Bowl, CBC News reported.
After the concert, the singer met her backstage.
And she brought the clippers.
“Are we actually doing this?” Cyrus asked her, according to CBC News.
Cyrus told her that she had “shaved her head before” too.
Then, before starting, the 33-year-old star paused for a moment.
“Thank you to the universe for bringing us together, and celebrating our connection and what music does for the world,” she said, as NBC News reported.
“It brings people like you and me together that may never meet.”
She asked Cash if she felt ready. Cash said she did.
“Let’s go girl,” Cyrus said, and turned on the buzzers.
‘Soft and Strong at the Same Time’
As the hair fell away, Cyrus kept talking to her gently.
“You can be soft and strong at the same time and you’re gonna brave the storm,” she told her, according to CBC News.
She made the moment feel like a celebration, not a loss.
“This feels celebratory for you, like we’re doing this in the most fun way possible,” Cyrus said.
And she would not stop hyping up her new look.
“You got cute ears, you got a good-shaped head, you got a gorg face,” Cyrus said, as NBC News reported.
When it was done, the two of them hugged.
“This made honestly this whole experience worth it getting to meet you,” Cyrus told her, according to CBC News.
“Thank you for asking me to do this. I am honored to be the one that you asked to share this moment with,” she said, People reported.
‘Don’t Meet Your Idols. Well I Did’
On Oct. 21, Cash shared the video of the moment online, NBC News reported.
“They say don’t meet your idols. Well I did. And it was everything and more,” she wrote.
She said Cyrus “took the time to meet me after and help me through one of the scariest and most intimate moments of my life.”
The clip has since passed 1.5 million views, according to CBC News.
For Cash, Cyrus’s songs have been a lifeline for a long time.
“Her music has always lifted me in some of the hardest times of my life,” she wrote.
“And when they pass, I can listen to her songs and be reminded that I got through it and came out stronger.”
“Between major depressive episodes and finding out I have stage 3 breast cancer,” she added.
‘Stay Soft and Strong’
“Miley is the softest, coolest, KINDEST, and most genuine human being I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting and spending time with,” she wrote.
Her caption ended with a simple thank-you.
“thank you @miley. For making me feel safe and comfortable, for giving me your time, and for being exactly who you are,” she wrote, as NBC News reported.
“It is a huge gift to continue to watch you grow and you are forever my biggest inspiration. Stay soft and strong 🤍”
Cash still has a hard road ahead of her.
But she will not walk the first part of it alone.
Sometimes the bravest moment of a fight is the very first step.
And sometimes, the person you looked up to your whole life is the one standing beside you when you take it.
